Defender’s August sales jump 27 percent

WATERFORD, Conn. – Defender Industries Inc.’s August same store sales increased 27 percent over the same period a year ago the company said in a statement today. 2005 marks the third year in a row Defender has posted record sales.

“Our strong sales prove there is no substitute for the overall value a broad offering of products, in stock for immediate shipment, at great prices with knowledgeable customer service can provide,” said Al Knupp, Defender executive director.

Internet sales led the growth with boats and motors again posting the largest gains. Inflatables saw significant growth over the previous year, according to the company.

“We’ve doubled our volume over 2004 in deluxe RIBs,” said Stephan Lance, Defender vice president. “More and more people are getting into inflatable boats as their primary boat versus buying them as tenders for a larger boat.”
