Pursuit Boats extends warranty coverage

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Pursuit Boats is offering a new two-year limited warranty that it said greatly expands coverage on defects in materials and workmanship in the boat and its components and accessories, the boat builder reported in a recent statement.

The new warranty coverage provides “stem to stern” warranty coverage, except for the engines, transmissions, generators, air conditioning systems and batteries (which are separately warranted by their manufacturers). The warranty will go into effect for all 2005 model Pursuit boats.

Pursuit had previously offered a one-year limited warranty combined with a five-year structural warranty on the hull and deck combined with a five-year blister free warranty. The limited five-year structural and blister free warranties remain unchanged.

“Consumers’ warranty perceptions are conditioned by other durable good purchases, most notably automobile. We felt as a leader in the industry it was time to bring our limited warranty to a level the market demands,” said Pursuit Vice President of Sales and Marketing Paul Perry.

Pursuit dealers will also benefit from the extended limited warranty, according to the company. Prospective customers are more comfortable with a large investment when it has the additional coverage, the company stated.

“Tangible benefits like Pursuit’s new limited warranty are the types of manufacturer driven customer service decisions the industry needs to promote the boating lifestyle,” said Pursuit dealer Bill Gilbert, president of Caribee Boat Sales.

Pursuit Boats is a division of Holland, Mich.-based S2 Yachts, Inc.
