Prospec redesigns Quality Control Department
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. — Marine audio specialist Prospec Electronics, has recently completed construction on its advanced Quality Control Department, the company reported in a statement Friday.
This redesigned testing lab looks to ensure that each product complies with the standards dictated by Prospec for marine use, according to the company.
Set in a controlled environment, a new addition to the Quality Control Department is dedicated to testing and features four different chambers, the company stated.
In the water test chamber, products with waterproof faces are subjected to a continual spray of water. The heat chamber reaches 150 degrees and simulates a typical boating setting in which a boat with wet carpet is covered and set in the heat producing very high humidity levels. Prospec’s shock chamber vibrates its products at high rates to check the CD mechanisms and to be certain the components stay in place. Finally, a torture tank is used to test for durability in high doses of spa chemicals including chlorine and bromide.
Each chamber is designed to verify that Prospec’s products will maintain their integrity through harsh conditions, the company reported.
