Registration up for Mercury University

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Registration for Mercury University training courses has increased by more than 17 percent as, over the next five months, Mercury Marine’s educational arm, will provide training sessions at more than 130 locations to service and sales personnel from authorized Mercury dealerships, the company said in a recent release.

Mercury University will offer a one-day Service Training Course, held in more than 50 locations, designed to provide technicians and other service personnel with the latest information regarding service and diagnostic techniques, service bulletins and new products.

The course will focus on outboard and MerCruiser engines, Mercury’s Computer Diagnostic System, Digital Throttle and Shift, Customer Service Index and SmartCraft products.

“It is our goal to have the best trained technicians and service personnel in the industry,” said Field Service and Operations Director Brad Weber. “Our curriculum is designed to provide dealers a wide range of educational opportunities. We believe these classes help fulfill that goal. Dealers are responding positively by registering early and often.”

Mercury University also began conducting more than 80 Product Knowledge Training Camps this month. The camps train dealership retail salespeople about features, advantages and benefits of Mercury Marine products.

At this time last year, 1,719 participants registered to attend one of 80
Mercury University Product Knowledge Training Camps. So far, 2,015 participants have signed up to attend, representing an increase of more than 14 percent.

“I’m thrilled to see the increase in registrations for our Product Knowledge Training Camps,” said Mercury Director of Dealer Integration Joe Antonneau. “The figures indicate that our Mercury dealers are hungry for product knowledge on our award-winning products, and we’re delighted to provide them the most comprehensive training that the Marine Industry offers. It looks as though we’ll shatter our attendance record from last year, thanks to the overwhelming response from our Mercury dealers.”
