Carling acquires 50 percent of Maretron

PLAINVILLE, Conn. – Switch and circuit protection manufacturer Carling Technologies, Inc., has acquired 50 percent of Maretron Corp., a marine electronics design and manufacturing company, Rick Sorenson, Sr., president and CEO of Carling Technologies said yesterday.

In its press release, Carling wrote that “the companies will combine their advanced technology solutions/offerings into a comprehensive power, control, monitoring and navigation system that reduces wiring complexity and costs for manufacturers while increasing comfort, convenience and functionality for commercial and pleasure boaters.”

Carling also said Maretron complements the OctoPlex system, designed and manufactured by Moritz Aerospace, a Carling Technologies company, located in Hatfield, Pa. OctoPlex remotely controls and monitors all AC and DC power distribution and is capable of providing complete vessel monitoring using a standard NMEA 2000 network.

Maretron, located in Phoenix, is a privately owned company established in 2003. It designs and manufactures marine electronics to the open industry NMEA 2000 standard for the recreational and commercial boating markets.
