IFBSO elects new president
UNITED KINGDOM – Bengt Wallin of Svenska Mässan was elected president of the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers June 3, IFBSO reported in a recent release.
The post had been vacant since Paul Streeter resigned from the UK’s National Boat Shows in February of this year, just eight months into his two-year term as president.
Bengt has been responsible for organizing the Swedish International Boat Show for nine years and has been a member of the Executive Committee and treasurer of IFBSO since 2001.
The show is held each February in Gothenburg on Sweden’s west coast, which was also the venue for this year’s ICOMIA/IFBSO joint congress.
For IFBSO members, the congress ended with the Federation’s 2006 Annual General Meeting, at which Bengt was unanimously elected president. The meeting also appointed Peter Busfield (Auckland International Boat Show) and Jurij Korenc (Internautica International Boat Show, Portoro) to the Committee, while Aud Høva (Norwegian International Boat Shows, Oslo) took over Bengt’s former role as treasurer.
