NEW YORK – Yachting magazine has named Don Wallace to the position of executive editor, replacing George Sass, Jr., who has left the company, the magazine’s editorial director, Peter Janssen, said in a press release yesterday.
“We’re all very excited to welcome Don to Yachting, and I’m thrilled to have him on my team once again,” said Janssen, who worked with Wallace for four years at Hearst Publications when he was editor-in-chief and publisher of Motor Boating & Sailing and Wallace was senior editor.
Wallace’s hire coincides with Yachting’s recent unveiling of an editorial redesign – the culmination of a year’s worth of gradual design and edit changes that began with Janssen’s hire in December 2003. The new look of the magazine premiered with the November issue – the magazine’s largest issue in its third consecutive year of record revenue growth. Yachting is projected to close 2004 with an 11-percent increase in advertising revenue.
