Yamaha holds first Skeeter dealer meeting since 2008

LONGVIEW, Texas — Yamaha Motor Corp. held its first Skeeter Dealer Meeting in three years at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center. The four-day meeting hosted an international cadre of dealers and fishing professionals.

Skeeter has been in business for more than 60 years and went under the Yamaha wing in 1996. The company sponsors the annual BASS championship.

The dealer meetings have been on hold due to the economy, according to an article in the Longview News-Journal, but the company still made investments in R&D and its top-of-the-line FX and I-class models.

“When the economy was bad, we strategically came out with a boat that costs more because the middle class guy wasn’t buying, but the guy that has got money, he’s going to buy,” Skeeter Boats Projects Manager JoAnne O’Bryant said to the News-Journal.
