In Brief: United States Yacht Shows Inc., Coast Guard Foundation, Sure-Life Laboratories

United States Yacht Shows, Inc. has finalized its line up of boat shows for 2010 in the Chesapeake Bay. The Bay Bridge Boat Show will take place April 22 – 25, Kent Island, Stevensville, Md. The Annapolis Spring Sails Event will take place May 8 – 9 in Annapolis, Md. The Annapolis Nautical Flea Market will take place May 29 and 30 at the Navy Marine Corps Stadium, Annapolis, Md. The 41st annual United States Sailboat Show will take place Oct. 7 – 11 in downtown Annapolis, Md. The 39th annual United States Powerboat Show will take place Oct. 14 – 17 in downtown Annapolis, Md. Each boat show features several hundred boats of all sizes, both in-water and on land, and an acre of open and tented exhibits of boating hardware, accessories, rigging, clothing, jewelry, and boating lifestyle items, as well as seminars, workshops, boat demos, food, and entertainment. Due to the enthusiastic response to the introduction of the Take the Wheel interactive workshop, this program will be expanded and offered in all three 2010 boat shows, according to the organizers. An Active Outdoor Living area continues to expand, featuring kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and active gear.

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education, welfare and morale of Coast Guard members and their families, has recognized Lockheed Martin as its largest corporate donor, according to a release from the foundation. Honored for lifetime gifts exceeding $2 million, the foundation presented the award to Fred P. Moosally, Coast Guard Foundation trustee and president of Lockheed Martin’s Maritime Systems and Sensors (MS2) business unit, at the company’s Washington offices. Lockheed Martin’s support is used by the foundation to fund programs that seek to improve the lives and performance of Coast Guard members, their families and Coast Guard Academy cadets, including college scholarships for children, as well as grants for enlisted members.

Sure-Life Laboratories has extended its sponsorship of the Bass Champs Tournament for 2010, according to a release from Bass Champs. Sure-Life will offer a $200 bonus to first place anglers who use Catch & Release and/or Please Release Me livewell water conditioners in their boats during the tournaments. Tournament winners earn a guaranteed $20,000 check, with qualifiers from the North, Central, East and South Divisions meeting at the Team Championships for a shot a share of more than $100,000.
