MRAA commissions book on growth/succession planning
OAK PARK, Ill. – The Board of Directors of the Marine Retailers Association of America has commissioned the publication of a book centered on business growth and succession planning, the MRAA said in a release today.
As previously reported in the July/August issue of Boating Industry magazine, the book will be written by family business consultant Mike Henning, of Henning Family Business Center in Effingham, Ill.
Henning is one of the nation’s most frequently quoted experts on privately held business succession issues, publishes a bi-monthly newsletter and has authored four books pertaining to family business issues. He has also worked with numerous individual dealers in the marine industry, according to MRAA.
KeyBank National Association, headquartered in Cleveland and a Silver Patron Associate Member of MRAA, has stepped forward to sponsor the publication. The two divisions of KeyBank that are endorsing this effort with MRAA are McDonald Financial Group and Key Recreation Lending.
“KeyBank is vitally interested in the continuation of some of America’s most prominent marine dealers,” said Kenneth R. Landon, CEO of Key Recreation Lending and executive vice president of Keycorp. “We count our dealer partners in recreational boating to be among our leading assets and are pleased to be a part of this very valuable effort.”
“The financial assistance being lent to us by KeyBank in the publication by a noted industry succession leader is greatly appreciated,” said John Sima, MRAA chairman. “Once more, one of our most valuable associate members has allowed us to help our membership in the business planning area.”
The presentation of this new MRAA membership benefit will be made during a session at the MRAA convention at the Stardust Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Nov. 9-11.
