What’s so great about Elevate!?

el·e·vate/ˈeləˌvāt/verb
Raise or lift (something) up to a higher position.

That is the dictionary definition of elevate. It also defines Boating Industry’s Elevate Summit, November 22 – 24, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, where industry executives, leaders, emerging leaders, and influencers unite to explore forces impacting the boating industry’s business models.

“It’s the only marine industry event aimed at people from all segments of the boating industry, from dealers, to boat builders, to service providers, and suppliers,” says Jonathan Sweet, managing director, Boating Industry Shows and Top 100. “What helps set Elevate apart is the types of issues we will be discussing, both through keynote speakers, and breakout sessions. Those will include economic trends impacting the boating industry, how to navigate through times of political uncertainty, managing your employees, growing your business, an examination and discussion around the supplier-dealer relationship and many others.

Leading the way as the featured Elevate keynote is Dr. James Pogue; an expert on generational differences in the workplace and your customer base. Dr. Pogue is also an entrepreneur, martial arts champion, musician and military veteran. He translates words and actions of colleagues, team members, leaders and executives into a common language we can all understand.

“We’re at a point now where at most workplaces you have employees representing four or five different generations,” explains Sweet. “How do you manage each of those generations? Because they all want different things from their jobs, they are motivated in different ways, want to be communicated to in different ways. The same is true of our prospects and customers, whether we are selling boats, or services, or accessories, we need to be marketing to these different generations using unique messaging and different platforms. There are lots of ways to reach our various audiences and stakeholders and that is what Dr. Pogue will be taking about.”

Boating Industry’s Elevate Summit is also excited to be featuring Karla Brandau, who will be speaking about how to make your employees your competitive advantage.

“This is someone who is a keynote-level speaker, and she headlines conferences all around the country for trade associations and many other industries,” Sweet said. “We are really pleased to be bringing her to a marine industry podium for the first time. I know attendees will appreciate all she has to say.”

And Elevate’s final featured keynote is Elliot Eisenberg, Ph.D. He calls himself the bowtie economist. He’ll both educate and entertain as he presents on macroeconomic conditions such as GDP growth, interest rates, unemployment, inflation, and currency movements, and how those broader things might be impacting the boating industry specifically.

Lots of people are asking how Elevate is different from what Boating Industry has done in the past? We’ll let Jonathan Sweet explain.

“Let’s look at the dealer audience for example. We don’t expect dealers to bring four, five or six people to Elevate, like they may have done with our past shows. This one is for the dealer principal, and perhaps the general manager. And that is true for other segments of the industry. It really is intended for thought leaders, executives and the top echelon of the org chart.”

The Top 100 dealer recognition program will live on at Elevate. This marks our 15th year recognizing the top boat dealers in North America as we close out Elevate 2019 with a black tie formal gala celebration.

And those are some of the reasons Elevate 2019 will be so great!
