On the water: Spreading the good word

During the 2021 boating season, Boating Industry was lucky enough to have two loaner units from BRP Sea-Doo. We took to the water with a new 2021 RXP-X and GTI SE 170 to a create a new, informative and immersive level of content for personal watercraft riders, both new and veteran. Thank you for joining us on this new journey!

While boating or watercraft riding solo can certainly be a wonderful experience, much of the joy of being out on the water comes from sharing the experience with friends and family.

A big goal of the BI team during our time with our loaner Sea-Doo units was to spread the word about the joys of watercraft riding with those who have had little to no experience out on the water before. As many of you know, the recreational boating industry has had its sights set on bringing in a new generation of water enthusiasts for some time now. And PWC offer a near-perfect entrance point for many newcomers.

Take the 2021 GTI SE 170 the BI team has been running for example. The GTI offers riders room for passengers and a comfortable rider position for endless hours of riding, paired with a modest fuel consumption and affordable price point, Sea-Doo’s GTI is a great starting point for novice riders.

So that’s exactly what we did with our 2021 GIT SE 170. At any chance we could, we introduced newcomers to all aspects of PWC riding and the potential it unlocks for a fun day out on the water. After a safety and operation rundown, the BI team watched more and more smiles grow as soon-to-be PWC enthusiasts discovered a love for being out on the water.

In one particular instance, we had the opportunity to take out the managing editor of Powersports Business (Boating Industry‘s sister publication), Nick Longworth for his first experience on a modern watercraft.

While Longworth grew up on the water and riding PWC of the late 90s and early 2000s, he hadn’t been on the water in quite some time and certainly hadn’t experienced the innovations that modern Sea-Doos now have.

From the iBR system to the Variable Trim System (VTS), the 2021 GTI made riding safely and comfortably a breeze for him to make his return to the water. Other than just being out on the water, the biggest perk and best innovation according to Longworth — the addition of the new BRP sound system.

He said that the ability to connect his phone via Bluetooth and enjoy his favorite music while ripping a local lake brought his riding experience to a whole new level.

From conversations at the boat ramps — we promise you brand new Sea-Doos draw plenty of attention when pulling into local Minnesota boat ramps — to getting novices out on the water, time and time again the BI team held true to its mission to spreading the good word of spending time out on the water and the great experiences we’ve had while riding PWC. On one occasion, we even had someone start a conversation about our Sea-Doos at a stop light in the middle of town as we were towing to the lake.

With everyone we talked to and got on the water, we think it’s probably safe to say that the sales boom on PWC won’t be slowing any time soon.
