GOTEBORG, Sweden – Goran Gummeson has been appointed the new president of marine engine manufacturer Volvo Penta, succeeding Staffan Jufors, who was recently appointed president of Volvo Trucks, according to a press release from the company.
Gummeson, who assumes his new duties on Nov. 1, will also be a member of the Volvo Group Executive Committee. He has held various positions at Volvo Penta since 1991, with responsibility for both marine engines and industrial engines. Since 1998, he has been head of Volvo Penta's European operations, which account for approximately 50 percent of Volvo Penta's total sales.
"Together with the other members of Volvo Penta's executive team, Goran Gummeson has helped to create the preconditions for the past few years' impressive earnings development,” said Volvo CEO Leif Johansson. “With his thorough knowledge of the industry and its customers, Goran Gummeson will be able to lead Volvo Penta to a continued strong performance in the future.”
