Northern Marine adds new partner

ANACORTES, Wash. – Rusty Preston, the former chairman of Washington’s Westport Shipyard, has become an equal partner of the newly formed Northern Motor Yachts, LLC, reported Northern Marine, Inc, a manufacturer of custom infused composite fiberglass motor yachts from 48 to 160 feet, in a press release Friday.

Preston joins the management team of president Richard “Bud” LeMieux and CEO George Huston. His responsibilities will be handling sales and marketing from the new NMY office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Northern Motor Yachts’ corporate headquarters and production facilities remain in Anacortes. The company currently employs a production staff of 280, with growth to 350 expected by the end of 2004. Five new sales orders are being processed at this time, with 4 Trawlers and 2 Motor Yachts at 130 and 152 feet in length expected to launch by December 2004, according to the company.

Additionally, Northern reported that award-winning yacht designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett of Seattle, Washington has drawn three all-new motor yachts for the company; those drawings will be unveiled at the Palm Beach Show in March.
