Glasstream enters second phase of manufacturing facility expansion
Glasstream Powerboats, who announced in 2015 the growth and expansion of a new manufacturing facility in Dothan, Ala., is now going into Phase II of its original plan.
“This expansion will allow us to streamline our production operations and manage our exponential growth in production.” Glasstream Powerboats president and owner Kruis Retherford said.
The additional 21,700 square feet increases the current facility size from 55,000 square feet to 76,700.
“Phase II of our plans will offer a larger area for our lamination department, and a designated place to store boat molds. With room for storage, we will now be able to use one of the original buildings built in Phase I for a new cutting/grinding department.” founder and designer A.L. Kirkland said. “This expansion is necessary for the continued demand of our product and will be a state-of-the-art production facility for our new flagship model debuting next year.”
During the construction of the new addition, Glasstream Powerboats is looking to increase their work force, and will be seeking to hire 40-45 new employees within the next 4-6 months.
“This expansion is important not only for our brand, but also for the surrounding Dothan community and the state of Alabama as a whole,” added Kirkland. “Between the need to grow and the number of people coming to us wanting to work for Glasstream because of the product we produce and the way we produce it, to us that speaks volumes.”
