Denver-based AIRHEAD Sports Group (ASG), a designer and supplier of watersport and outdoor products, announced that it will be acquiring WaterMat, the original family-fun and exercise floating foam mat headquartered in Glen Ellyn, IL.
WaterMat will added to ASG’s house of brands that include Airhead, SportsStuff, Dry Pak, and Yukon (formerly known as Yukon Charlie’s).
“For the last 15 years we have been fortunate to create a category that has provided millions of laughs and giggles for people of all ages in the water. AIRHEAD Sports Group is the perfect company to take the WaterMat family of products to the next level,” said WaterMat founder Bob Pole. “Their innovative history, combined with being so customer focused, really excites me. AIRHEAD Sports Group is an expert at making products that create memories for people that love the water and WaterMat is in great hands for the future.”
AIRHEAD Sports Group continues the company’s growth through both organic means, and strategic mergers and acquisitions, with the acquisition of WaterMat taking place on the heels of ASG acquiring Yukon Charlie’s in 2014.
“We are very pleased to acquire WaterMat, the original floating foam mat in the marketplace,” said Aaron Kramer, CEO and President of AIRHEAD Sports Group. “It’s a great extension of our watersports product line and we have big plans for WaterMat, taking the vast product knowledge that we learned from the founders and pushing it to the next level of innovation. With our broad distribution and loyal business partners, we’re sure to expand the reach of the business exponentially.”
WaterMat’s consumers include families, fitness enthusiasts and Olympic athletes. Customers can still purchase their products on their website at www.thewatermat.com.
