By Marine Trades Association of Maryland

The Marine Trades Association of Maryland has elected John Norton, Annapolis Harbor Boatyard, to a two-year term president.

"I look forward to serving with this diverse group and working together to promote Maryland’s marine industry and its professional and boating interests," Norton said. "Maryland is the best destination for recreational boating as well as those working in the maritime industry and there is much we can do to promote the industry as a whole.”

MTAM is a 350 member non-profit trade organization founded in 1972. MTAM is dedicated to promoting the recreational marine industry and the preservation of the waterways on which our businesses rely.

Norton is the owner and operator of Annapolis Harbor Boat Yard which he founded in 2008. He is a 2000 graduate of Wilmington University in Wilmington, Del. and has worked on the water since 2001. Norton's favorite part about working in the industry is having the chance to work with and for such a diverse group of successful craftsmen and business people.

Election of MTAM board members and officers is held annually in December. In addition to Norton's election to president, MTAM elected the following new Board Members for three year terms:

  • Lauren Mahoney, marketing director, Annapolis Yacht Sales. Mahoney is a member of Annapolis Sailing Industry Association (ASIA) and South Forest Business Association (SOFO).
