Boating Caucus chair Candice Miller to retire

Rep. Candice Miller, R-Mich., who has been co-chair of the Congressional Boating Caucus since the 110th Congress, will not seek re-election in 2016, she announced Thursday.

The Congressional Boating Caucus is a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators and Representatives that advocates for the interests of the recreational boating industry. The caucus formed in 1989, and Miller has been a member since joining Congress in 2003. In the current 114th Congress, she is the House co-chair with Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla.

During her time with the caucus, Miller has advocated for numerous issues important to the boating industry, most recently cosponsoring legislation to combat invasive species.
