Hundreds show up to Mercury Marine job fair

FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Hundreds of applicants showed up at Mercury Marine’s seven-hour job fair, which was hiring for 150 positions.

The new, entry-level production will pay about $10 an hour and are in addition to about 300 positions the company filled earlier this year. The new jobs are in such areas as assembly, machining and in the warehouse. There is potential for job growth in some of the positions.

Some new jobs will start as early as next week.

A source with the company told WBAY Action 2 News the new jobs are partially due to a marginal increase in business as well as the transfer of production work from a plant in Oklahoma.

The hire will also add to Mercury hiring goal to bring 800 jobs to the state in order to receive a $70 million incentive package.
