Boating Industry Intelligence You Can Profit From
FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A 33,000-square-foot addition is under construction at the Mercury Marine plant in Fond du Lac, according to a report in the Fond du Lac Reporter.
The expansion project is needed to support consolidation of Stillwater, Okla., operations with Mercury's Fond du Lac site. Construction is expected to be completed by Jan. 1, the paper reports.
"It's a large building, but it doesn't look that large when you look at the overall plant," Community Development Director Wayne Rollin told the paper. "A year and a half ago, we thought the company might not be here at all. So this is definitely good news for the community. It's not a major expansion, but any expansion is a good thing."
The new construction project will serve as the main receiving dock for Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, and the receiving area and component storage site for Mercury MerCruiser manufacturing.
