MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – If you want to be first to read the industry’s top news stories, you can now follow Boating Industry magazine on Twitter, a free social networking site that allows you to receive updates through Internet-enabled mobile devices as well as standard e-mail accounts.
Boating Industry, which publishes its free e-newsletter – a summary of recent recreational marine business news – twice a week, posts the news its readers need to know immediately on its Web site, www.boatingindustry.com. This allows those professionals who sign up to “follow” Boating Industry on Twitter.com/BoatingIndustry to receive links to that content as it is posted.
“Many of Boating Industry magazine’s e-newsletter subscribers have told us they appreciate receiving a news summary twice a week rather than being bombarded with daily updates that may not be relevant to their work,” said Boating Industry Associate Publisher/Editor-In-Chief Matt Gruhn. “However, we understand that, especially in these challenging times, it is critical for marine business executives to have the up-to-the-minute information that allows them to make the best possible decisions for the health of their company. We launched this service to provide that high-level content within a framework that delivers it to our audience immediately as opposed to forcing them to go find it or wait until our e-news is delivered to their inbox.”
This new service doesn’t replace the Boating Industry e-newsletter its loyal readers have come to expect in their inboxes. Rather, it complements it, offering readers an alternate way to access the content throughout their busy lives, the magazine explained.
“The editorial team at Boating Industry is dedicated to adopting new technologies that allow it to better serve its readers and the entire recreational marine business,” said Liz Walz, Boating Industry Senior Editor. “This new Twitter service is a prime example of that dedication, as is our work on several new online projects to be unveiled in the coming weeks.”
