Boating accessories maker moves to N.C.

RALEIGH, N.C. – As Maxwell Marine’s U.S. customer base has evolved, moving from a concentration on the West Coast to one along the East Coast and in the Midwest, so has the company.

The anchor gear manufacturer, which builds its products in New Zealand but counts on the U.S for about half its sales, has opened its new headquarters in North Raleigh, closing its Santa Ana, Calif. office, according to an article today in The News & Observer. The company employs 11 people, mostly in sales and distribution, according to the newspaper.

Among the company’s reasons for choosing North Carolina over other East Coast states was the migration of a slew of boat companies to the state, many of which have relocated from Florida citing a desire to expand and lower costs, the newspaper reported.
