Regal Marine increases production
ORLANDO, Fla. – On the heels of what it’s describing as “the most successful dealer meeting in its 38-year history,” Regal Marine Industries is recruiting nearly 100 new employees to meet growing demand for its line-up of sportboats, express cruisers and yachts from 19 to 53 feet, it reported in a recent statement.
The additional factory staff is also needed to maximize production of the company’s new 5260 Commodore Express yacht, which has amassed over 50 retail pre-orders to date, according to the company.
“We are certainly flattered to be in such a unique position,” said Regal president and CEO Duane Kuck. “While the market seems to be flat, the demand for Regal products has surged. Give credit to a number of factors – a fresh new crop of Regal dealers, a successful new product launch of the FasDeck series and the incredible response to our new 5260.”
Regal has recently begun an aggressive new dealer recruitment program, adding 13 new dealers since July. And at its recent dealer meeting in Sanibel Island, Fla., Regal added to its line-up from 19 to 53 feet by introducing four new boats, the 2000 and 2200 Regal Sport (RS) and Regal Extreme (RX) models. The subsequent demand for these new products – along with the recently-introduced 2520 and 2220 FasDeck deckboats and 5260 Commodore Express – prompted the search for skilled marine labor, the company said.
Kuck said he expects the new staff, including the hiring of an additional plant manager, to be in place within 45 days in order to respond quickly to anticipated boat show sales and spring orders.
“Thankfully, our dealer inventory level is relatively low overall, compared to many industry builders,” said Kuck. “That is certainly helping with wholesale pull-through. Our hope is that it all translates to increased consumer demand during the winter and spring boat shows.”
