Taylor Made consolidates boat windshield operations

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Taylor Made Group is moving its Casselberry, Fla.-based Water Bonnet Manufacturing Inc. operation, integrating it into its Bradenton factory, which is an hour and half away, Taylor Made President Dennis Flint said in an interview this morning.

The decision was made “to share the overhead savings gained through use of existing facilities,” he added, and Water Bonnet employees were offered financial incentives to transfer to the Bradenton plant.

The Orlando Sentinel reported yesterday that as many as 70 employees could be laid off as of May 4. The 100,000 square foot Casselberry plant is being prepared for sale, the newspaper added.

A company executive told the newspaper that the Bradenton plant has air conditioning, which was not the case in Casselberry. It’s expected that detail alone will boost productivity and product quality, said the executive, who also confirmed that the Water Bonnet brand name will continue to be used.
