Grand Banks yacht targets European market
SEATTLE – Visitors to the 2004 Genoa International Boat Show, Oct. 9-17, will get their first glimpse of the first Grand Banks yacht designed and built specifically for European boaters, the company reported in a statement today.
The 54 Eastbay Sxe – the “e” designates this special European version of the boat – is based on the popular Grand Banks 54SX express cruiser launched in 2002. Several new features, however, mark the 54SXe as distinctly different from the original model, according to the company.
These features include an aft deck with raised seating rather than the traditional cockpit design, which steps up to the salon. This modification makes room for the new crew cabin and accommodations underneath, as well as for a retractable gangway for stern-to moorage common in Mediterranean ports.
“We’re very excited to design and build a yacht with the specific needs of European boaters in mind,” said Bob Livingston, Grand Banks chairman and CEO. “By combining these new features with the quality and craftsmanship that mark our yachts the world over, we’ve created a new model that also exemplifies the Grand Banks tradition.”
