NMMA works to fill in information gaps

MIAMI, Fla. – The National Marine Manufacturers Association is just months away from announcing a plan to promote boating, said NMMA President Thom Dammrich at a Miami press event this morning.

Among the goals it has in creating this plan is filling in the gaps in consumer research in the industry.

Specifically, Dammrich referred to a lack of information about “how time, cost and knowledge interact to keep people away from boating,” a topic on which NMMA will be conducting research.

Other questions NMMA will be attempting to answer are whether non-boaters have “top of mind awareness of boating,” who boating’s direct competitors are, the role of the Internet in the purchase process and the significance of the Internet’s role in promoting boating, according to Dammrich.
