Advance tickets up 100 percent for Atlantic Sail Expo
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Advance ticket sales are up 100 percent over last year for the 12th annual Atlantic Sail Expo (ASE), which opens today, the show’s producers reported in a statement yesterday.
The four-day show held at the Atlantic City Convention Center opens in the wake of a strong fall selling season and robust boat show performances on both the East and West coasts, stated Sail America.
“This show opens at a time when we’ve all seen some very positive signs in the sailing industry,” said Sail America Executive Director Scot West, as he and his crew prepared for Thursday morning’s opening. “Our advance ticket sales are way up; the show layout’s been revamped, and it has a fresh look and feel. We hope this show – our first of 2004 – will set the trend for a good year ahead.”
ASE 2004, which is co-produced by Sail America and the National Marine Manufacturers Association, opens Thursday, January 15 and runs until Sunday, January 18. The show features the largest-ever Sail Expo prize giveaway program, where sailboats, a diesel engine, sailing vacations, and other grand prizes will be awarded daily to showgoers, according to producers. The event has also drawn racers and cruisers who will run seminars during the show, Sail America reported.
