LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Brunswick Corp. recently awarded $50,000 in scholarships to 25 sons and daughters of Brunswick marine dealer employees to assist with college tuition fees.
Students eligible for scholarships included those whose parent(s) are employees of dealerships that sell Mercury and/or Brunswick Boat Group products and participate as Gold or Platinum dealers in Brunswick Dealer Advantage, which offers a suite of tools and services designed to address the operational, customer and employee needs of independent marine dealers.
“The scholarship program definitely sends a message that Brunswick cares not only about the dealers, but also for the dealers’ families,” said scholarship recipient Erin Granger, whose stepfather is the sales and operations manager for Monadnock Marine in Rindge, N.H. “It was a lot of work to put the scholarship application together, but it was definitely worth the effort.”
Scholarships were awarded based on the applicant’s academic record and leadership abilities as demonstrated by extracurricular activities. The $2,000 scholarships can only be used toward a baccalaureate degree.
Scholarship recipients were selected by an impartial, external committee comprised of academic professionals from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
“Higher education is of tremendous importance, and it is an honor to help these young men and women pursue their goals,” said Russ Lockridge, vice president and chief human resources officer for Brunswick Corp.
