MarineMax helps Make-A-Wish

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Recreational boat retailer MarineMax, Inc partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the MarineMax~Hatteras Billfish Invitational in Marsh Harbour in the Bahamas, to grant a wish and also help raise more than $30,000 for the Foundation, MarineMax reported in a recent release.

MarineMax granted the wish of Nathan, a 14-year-old leukemia patient from Ohio, who had asked to go fishing somewhere he had never fished before.

Upon arrival in the Bahamas, Nathan and his family were whisked away to the luxurious Abaco Beach Resort, host of the MarineMax~Hatteras Billfish Tournament. Nathan fished onboard a Boston Whaler, and a 54′ Hatteras. Nathan’s bait was donated by Aylesworth.

Nathan was also the guest of honor at the tournament awards ceremony and dinner Saturday night.

“After being presented with an award, the normally-shy and reserved Nathan made a touching speech thanking MarineMax and everyone else at the tournament for making his dream come true,” says Susan Perez-Phipps at MarineMax.

“It has been quite an experience for us to help make Nathan’s dream come true and to help raise money for Make-A-Wish,” said Shannon McCoy, tournament director with MarineMax. “Nathan is a special kid, and to know that we helped make his dreams a reality is an incredible feeling. We’re also so pleased that our fundraising events generated money to help grant wishes for other children.”
