Gill signs supply agreement with U.S. sailing teams
BUFORD, Ga. – Gill North America (NA) has signed an agreement to become the official technical apparel supplier of the US Sailing Team, which will be competing later this summer in the Olympic Games, and for the US Disabled Sailing Team, competing in the Paralympic Games, it reported in a recent statement.
Both US Sailing Teams will be wearing Gill performance apparel that will range from dingy gear, boots, gloves, sunglasses, rash guards, as well as spray jackets and pants. Gill said it will provide each sailor with the technical apparel especially designed to fit their needs and to weather sailing conditions in Athens.
David Pritchard, president of Gill, remembers his own experience as a US Sailing Team member in 1980 and 1984 and how important sponsorship support was for him.
“I had no money, just an old pair of shoes and I was sailing all the time – that was my passion,” he said. “I remember the first time I received a free product, what a great impression that made. Now, twenty-four years later, I’m on the other side of the fence, supporting our athletes with Gill products.”
