Channel Blade names VP of operations

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Channel Blade, a provider of online marketing, lead management and sales education solutions in the marine, RV, and powersports industries, has appointed Tom Heron to the newly created position of vice president of operations as of March 18, it reported in a statement yesterday.

Heron’s 25 years of experience cover finance, operations, engineering and marketing in the publishing and financial services industries. In his new position, he is responsible for leading operational and customer support functions, including product development, process redesign, production management and customer satisfaction. One of Heron’s first initiatives is to launch a Client Advisory Council, a plan designed to formally infuse Channel Blade’s operations and strategy with its clients’ industry experience.

“Tom’s wealth of diversified experience and stellar track record will be invaluable as he focuses on building a world-class customer experience through high-quality support, product delivery and process consistency,” said Chuck Lewis, co-founder and managing partner of Channel Blade. “Our continued investment in recruiting executive talent is a testament to our commitment to growing both our business and our clients’ businesses.”

Heron most recently served as vice president – production services at Harris Connect, a membership and alumni directory publishing company based in Virginia Beach, Va. Prior to that position, he successfully launched his own business, Dinners by the Dozen, an original online meal reservation system, reported Channel Blade. From 1997 to 2005, Heron was instrumental in the development of several business lines for Capital One Financial, including the successful launch of three innovative, new businesses, according to Channel Blade.

Heron spent 20 years in the Navy as a submariner and currently lives in Virginia Beach, Va. with his wife Riva, and three children Kellie, Ryan and Christopher. A registered professional engineer, Heron holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis.
