Cummins MerCruiser Diesel appoints new president

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Scott Patrohay, president and CEO of Cummins MerCruiser Diesel for the past five years, has been selected distributor principal, effective January 2008, of a new Cummins distributor joint venture that will serve a portion of the Northeastern United States, the company said.

Patrohay will be replaced by Alex M. Savelli, a member of the management team at Cummins Power Generation. Savelli, managing director – Energy Solutions and Rental Business at Cummins Power Generation, assumes his new role at CMD effective Nov. 1.

“This planned transition will be very exciting for CMD and the Cummins distribution channel,” said Jim Kelly, vice president and president – Engine Business – Cummins Inc. “Alex will bring a wealth of global management experience to CMD and Scott will be a great addition to our team of distributors in North America.

Savelli joined Cummins Engine Business in 1994 holding various marketing and sales roles both in the U.S. and Europe, prior to moving to the company’s Power Generation business in 2004. He has been in his current role since September 2005.

“Scott has done an outstanding job at the helm of CMD since its inception and has presided over impressive growth and success,” said Patrick C. Mackey, president of Mercury Marine. “He is very deserving of this opportunity to become a distributor principal for Cummins. Additionally, Alex’s credentials and experiences are perfect for this new role, and we are confident that CMD will continue to succeed under his leadership.”
