America’s Boating Club Celebrates National Safe Boating Week
As boaters head into Memorial Day weekend and the official start of boating season, America’s Boating Club | United States Power Squadrons and different clubs around the country will celebrate National Safe Boating Week from May 16–22, 2026. This awareness effort, spearheaded by the Safe Boating Campaign, promotes safe and responsible boating around the world.
America’s Boating Club |United States Power Squadrons promotes recreational boating skills and safety through education, hands-on training and civic service. Every year, the clubs host and participate in safe boating events for National Safe Boating Week, according to the organization, from vessel safety checks and life jacket demonstrations to proclamation signings with their community leaders.
With a goal of educating the recreational boating public and encouraging safe boating behaviors, the club’s instructors are highly trained and help teach fellow boaters the skills they need to feel more confident on the water. Students can take a course with America’s Boating Club online or in-person.
“As Chief Commander of America’s Boating Club | United States Power Squadrons, I am proud of the thousands of volunteers in our local squadrons who work every day to make recreational boating safer,” said Mike Wiedel in a news release. “During National Safe Boating Week, we renew our commitment to helping every boater return home safely while celebrating the fun, freedom, and fellowship that boating brings to families across our nation.”
Chief Commander Mike Wiedel also reminds boaters that National Safe Boating Week is a great time to schedule a free vessel safety check with one of their many qualified vessel examiners.
