NWSA Announces AdventureSail Day 2026

The National Women’s Sailing Association (NWSA) just announced that AdventureSail Day 2026 will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Local hosts may also select an alternate date that best suits their area. NWSA invites yacht clubs, sailing schools and community sailing programs across the country to participate in this empowering initiative designed to introduce young girls to the joy of sailing.
For more than two decades, AdventureSail, a cornerstone program of the Women’s Sailing Foundation and NWSA, has helped the next generation of female sailors. In collaboration with US Sailing, the program continues to expand nationwide, according to the organization, addressing barriers that prevent young women and girls from accessing sailing opportunities.
AdventureSail provides guidance and resources to make sailing more accessible to girls ages 9–14. The program’s mission is to ensure that every girl—especially those who might not otherwise have the chance—can experience the thrill and confidence that come from being on the water, according to the organization. Hosts connect with local girls’ organizations to recruit participants and spend a day teaching them sailing skills while introducing them to inspiring women mentors in the sport.
Each AdventureSail event focuses not only on hands-on sailing but also on building teamwork, leadership and self-esteem, according to the organization. Through these experiences, participants gain valuable life skills and a foundation for lifelong engagement with sailing.
To support host organizations, NWSA offers:
- Up to $300 in expense reimbursement to host organizations
- A scholarship for one participant to continue her sailing education via application process
- Program support materials, including guidelines, checklists and daypacks for the girls
These resources help ensure that each AdventureSail event is safe, educational and memorable for all involved, according to the organization. Organizations interested in hosting an AdventureSail event or learning more about the program are encouraged to visit the AdventureSail webpage.
