Jason Lent New Harbormaster at St. Andrews Marina
St. Andrews Marina Partners (SAMP) and Coastal Marina Management (CMM) of Panama City, FL, recently announced the hiring of Jason Lent as Harbormaster of St. Andrews Marina in Panama City, Florida.
Lent brings marina management experience dating back to the mid-1990s to the marina, according to the company, which was built in 1960 and has been undergoing extensive repairs since Hurricane Michael, along with a massive renovation to best serve the boating community of Panama City.
A St. Andrews native his entire life, Lent is excited to be a part of writing the next chapter in the marina’s storied history. “I was born here, I grew up here and I have always loved the marina,” he said in a news release. “When I became aware of the plan and the vision for the future of the marina, it felt like it was a perfect match for me and my experience, and I am honored to have this opportunity in my hometown.”
Leading St. Andrews Marina Into Its Next Chapter
As Harbormaster, Lent will oversee all marina operations, including customer service, dock management and day-to-day waterfront activities, according to the company, as Coastal Marina Management assumes management of the marina.
“There was a lot of interest in this position,” added Scott Burt, owner of Coastal Marina Management, in the release. “We feel fortunate to have found a highly qualified Harbormaster candidate, with extensive marina management experience, who also has deep-rooted local ties. It’s why we know Jason is a perfect fit for the St. Andrews Marina today and going forward.”
The City of Panama City entered into an agreement with St. Andrews Marina Partners and Coastal Marina Management on behalf of the marina. The two groups have led restoration and redevelopment, according to the company, and will provide long-term management of the marina. Lent’s appointment represents an important step forward as the marina returns to full service for the boating community.
Located in Historic St. Andrews, St. Andrews Marina has long served as a central hub for Panama City’s waterfront community. The marina offers boat slips, a fishing pier, a fuel dock (both gasoline and diesel), pump-out services, restrooms, showers and a ship’s store, according to the company. It’s the downtown home for charter fishing, dolphin sightseeing, sailing trips and features fish-cleaning services. The marina’s modern rebuild focuses on securing electrical, sewer and perimeter upgrades to restore its full functionality. The ongoing restoration effort aims not only to repair storm damage but also to modernize marina infrastructure and enhance amenities for boaters, anglers, and visitors
