Canadian manufacturers establish Sydney International Boat Show leads
The 2018 Sydney International Boat Show had 65,000 visitors, with more than 250 exhibitors and over 1,000 boats on display. It is considered Australia’s biggest show.
With the financial support from Global Affairs Canada through its Global Opportunities for Associations (GOA) program, four Canadian companies had the opportunity to attend the show from Aug. 2 to Aug. 6 and promote Canadian products to a growing Australian marine sector.
Australia has a large boating population relative to its population with two million boating licenses, 900,000 registered boats and 14,500 new registrations a year.
A 2017/18 survey commissioned by the Boating Industry Association (BIA) shows that there has been a steady growth of the marine sector in Australia over the last three years.
The survey illustrates that the Australian recreational marine industry rose to $8.47 billion during 2017-2018. There are more than 2,250 recreational marine businesses active in Australia and 70 percent of them expect to grow in the next 12 months.
The four Canadian companies that attended the show were Deep Trekker, Sidewind Marine, Samui Corp. and Shockwave Seats.
