U.S. Coast Guard honors Brunswick’s David Marlow for contributions advancing safe boating

Citing his “outstanding contributions to recreational boating safety,” the U.S. Coast Guard recently honored Brunswick Corporation’s (NYSE: BC) David Marlow with its Meritorious Public Service Award.

Marlow, Brunswick’s director – product integrity/government affairs, was cited for his contributions and leadership as a member of the National Boating Safety Advisory Council. The council works with the U.S. Coast Guard’s Boating Safety Division to improve the safety of recreational boaters on U.S. waterways through all means and methods, and to provide advice to the Coast Guard on matters relating to recreational boating safety. At various times in his career, Marlow has served as vice chairman of the council as well as chairman of the council’s Boats and Associated Equipment Subcommittee.

USCG Rear Adm. Paul Thomas noted that “during his 12 years as chairman of the Boats and Associated Equipment Subcommittee, Mr. Marlow dedicated countless hours of his personal time and energy to ensuring that the subcommittee effectively addressed issues under its purview, and went to great lengths to include all interested parties in subcommittee discussions.”

Thomas added that recently improving recreational boating safety statistics “are due in no small part to Mr. Marlow’s strong leadership and persistent commitment to recreational boating safety, and reflect great credit upon himself, the National Recreational Boating Safety Program, and the United States Coast Guard.”

Marlow, who remains active in many marine industry efforts and organizations, said he was “humbled and proud” to receive the Meritorious Award, the second highest public service awarded given by the USCG.
