BRP receives certificate of excellence for 15 years of facility wastewater management

BRP announced on Tuesday that its on-site wastewater treatment system used for many of its production processes was recently recognized with an award from Racine Wastewater Utility for excellence in facility wastewater management. BRP’s wastewater system has been in full compliance for every random sampling period during the past 15 years.

“The Wastewater Utility is very proud to have companies such as BRP in the pretreatment program, who take compliance with permit limits seriously and who care about the environment and particularly preserving the water quality of Lake Michigan,” said Nora Erlandson, laboratory director of Racine Wastewater Utility.

“We’re thrilled to have been recognized by the Racine Wastewater Utility. Fifteen years of excellence is truly the result of a dedicated team who has focused on ensuring quality wastewater management throughout the years,” said Jeff Wasil, emissions certification and facility environmental manager.

BRP has invested in methods to conserve water and minimize process waste through projects such as a closed-loop water system to test and validate outboard engines for which the facility received an Earth Day Award last year from the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. This system substantially reduced the amount of water consumption that would have otherwise been required and subsequently reduced the total amount of wastewater throughput. Many of the other wastewater equipment and systems are also being upgraded to further ensure compliance and maximize efficiency, as well as expand real-time monitoring through software developed internally. BRP manages its wastewater system together with Rivers Bend Engineering, a Wisconsin-based civil engineering and industrial wastewater engineering firm.
