Boat sales for 2014 look to be up about 7 percent for the year, showing solid growth over 2013.
That’s according to Info-Link’s latest Bellwether report, which tracks boat sales across the country based on new U.S. boat registrations. Bellwether states are geographically dispersed states representing roughly half of the US boat market (varies by market segment and time of year).
As was the case throughout 2014, the PWC segment showed the strongest growth, with sales up about 25 percent year-over-year. The ski boat segment, which peaked at 20 percent year-over-year growth this summer on a rolling 12-month basis, finished up around 15 percent.
The sportfish market and outboard segment both finished the year up about 10 percent in Bellwether states. Even the sterndrive/jet market, the only category to show a year-over-year decline, was down less than 5 percent.
