SALEM, Ore. — A bill working its way through the Oregon state legislature could require invasive species inspection checkpoints for recreational and commercial boaters.
House Bill 3399 would authorize the state’s Department of Agriculture, Fish and Wildlife to inspect boats for invasive species.
According to an article in The Oregonian, those who cooperate with authorities will not face penalty if an invasive species is found on the boat.
The bill passed through the Oregon House with strong support on Thursday and is now going to the senate.
