West Marine opens new Morehead City location
WATSONVILLE, Calif. – West Marine, a boating supplies and accessories retailer, will hold a grand opening celebration for its newest store in Morehead City, N.C., on April 10 and 11, it reported in a recent statement. Doors open at 8 am on Saturday and the celebration continues all weekend with a boat show, seminars, a kids petting tank, discounts, gifts and prize give-a-ways, including a $100 West Marine gift card, and more.
The brand new 15,000 square foot store is situated at the Crystal Coast Plaza, at 5160 Highway 70 in Morehead City and offers a selection of electronics, fishing, sailing, engine and apparel departments, as well as a Port Supply Hub for marine businesses.
The new Morehead City West Marine employs 10 associates who together have over 100 years of boating, fishing and sailing experience. Store Manager John Grimmett recently relocated to Morehead City from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and has spent the last 30 years fishing up and down the East Coast. Operations Manager Tammy Jones has spent the last 11 years with West Marine in Morehead City and is an inventory specialist. Bill Marlow, the sales manager and fishing expert, managed a local marina of charter fishing boats for nine years before coming to West Marine. John Day, born and raised in the area, is an expert on boating and the commercial fishing industry.
There will be a boat show all weekend featuring boats by Sterling Marine, Boats Inc., Portside Marina and more. Plus, local boat dealers and marine experts will be on site for several fishing seminars. The Crystal Coast Grand Prix will bring a race boat for display, and the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores will provide a kids petting tank on site as well.
The Raymarine Mobile Showroom will demonstrate electronics while representatives from Pure Fishing, Penn Reels, Berkley Fishing, Garmin, Lowrance, Navico, Simrad, Maui Jim Sunglasses and many more will be available to answer boating questions.
