IMI offers discounts on 2009 courses

WARREN, R.I. – The International Marina Institute is offering a discount of $250 off each 2009 registration for those who register between Dec. 23 and 31, it reported in a newsletter yesterday.

IMI’s 2009 spring class schedule includes the following courses:

  • Intermediate Marina Management Course, Feb. 22-26: The Intermediate Marina Management School (IMM) focuses on marina operations, policies, and procedures. Marina-management pros offer their expert thinking about business issues and challenges throughout the industry, according to IMI.
  • Marina Operators Course, March 1-5: A new offering, this school is specifically designed for those who manage the daily operations of the marina but are not the full-charge facility manager (i.e., manager of marina operations, harbormaster, dockmaster, etc) or owners/operators of a small marina with less than 100 slips (wet and dry combined), according to IMI. The school’s content focuses on technical and operational topics such as managing teams, fueling and fueling systems, electrical systems, risk-management and customer service, blending lectures with hands-on exercises and group activities.
  • Advanced Marina Management Course, March 22-27: The Advanced Marina Management (AMM) program is a profit-management training course designed for senior marina professionals. Through small groups, interactive workshops, and specific case studies, the AMM course examines such topics as capital budgeting, financial management, project management, marketing, strategic planning, and contract law with a full contract review provided by marina law specialist Dennis Nixon.
