ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – An international group of more than 170 exhibitors will bring sailing gear, equipment and apparel to accompany more than 100 expert-led seminars at Strictly Sail St. Petersburg, to be held Nov. 4-7 at Vinoy Basin, according to a release from show organizers.
The seminars, which are free with admission, will explore every aspect of sailing, from worldwide sailing trips to practical know-how sessions on celestial navigation and safety.
The show’s Discover Sailing program gives attendees the chance to go sailing on half-hour tours scheduled throughout the show. Through the “Discover Sailing” program, new sailors can take a starter sailing lesson or a sailboat ride. “Discover Sailing,” a nationwide introduction-to-sailing program, has succeeded in helping thousands of newcomers become sailors, event organizers said.
“Strictly Sail St. Petersburg gives everyone has a chance to go sailing, where the conditions are perfect and the views are spectacular,” said Scot West, executive director of Sail America, the show’s producer. “We want to encourage people who have never set foot on a sailboat to discover the joy and thrill of sailing.”
