Anchor manufacturer earns certification
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Two anchors manufactured by Fortress have received type-approval for the “Super High Holding Power” (SHHP) rating from Norwegian certification agency Det Norske Veritas (DNV), according to a release from the company yesterday.
SHHP certification ensures that Fortress models FX-85 and FX-125 have exhibited four times the holding power of anchors with similar mass, the company said.
“Over the past several years, we have frequently been contacted by boat builders who are looking to improve cruising speed and fuel efficiency by reducing vessel weight,” Fortress’s Brian Sheehan said. “Our aluminum-alloy anchors give them exactly what they need, far greater holding power at a fraction of the weight of steel anchors.”
