Century and Cobia Boats to sponsor fishing series
PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Cobia and Century Boats have signed on as the title sponsors of the new Professional Tarpon Tournament Series, which will include five regular season events and one championship event in a live release format, the boat builders reported in a press release today.
Cobia and Century will provide first-place prizes for each event in the series. Winners will receive either a 1901 Century or 191 Cobia bay boat complete with a Loadmaster aluminum trailer, powered by F115 Yamaha four-stroke outboards.
“We are very pleased to be the title sponsor of this exciting new tournament series which has been described as a ‘poor man’s NASCAR’,” said Dean Burnett, vice president and general manager of Century and Cobia Boats. “The thrill and challenge of competitive tarpon fishing really appeals to our customers and it’s a great way to showcase our boats.”
The series will be filmed and broadcast on the Sunshine Network with the potential to reach 5.9 million viewers four times per week. Joe Mercurio, vice president of the Tarpon Anglers Club and radio host of Smells Like Fish, will be the on-air host of the television show, according to the companies.
