YachtFest San Diego draws record attendance

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — YachtFest San Diego featured the most big boats and the largest number of paid attendees in its nine-year history, organizers recently announced.

The event was held on San Diego’s Shelter Island for the ninth straight year, from Sept. 11-14.

During the event, awards were handed out in three categories. The winners were:

People’s Choice: Endless Summer
For the second year in a row, this 92-foot yacht built by Paragon Motor Yachts won the People’s Choice award. The yacht features two hot tubs and a $320,000 entertainment system.

Best Interior: First Home
A 92-foot Cheoy Lee Cockpit Motor Yacht built in 1988. The yacht features two staterooms with king beds, two staterooms with twin berths and a Jacuzzi in the VIP stateroom.

Best in Show: Piano Bar
The largest yacht in the show, a 156-foot superyacht built by Picchiotti, was built in 1982 and refurbished in 2005. It features six guest cabins that sleep up to 12 people, a Jacuzzi, a barbecue and a wet bar.
