Zebco names new vice president

TULSA, Okla. — Zebco Brands has named Matt Fletcher vice president of sales, the company announced this week. Fletcher has been consulting for Zebco since May, focusing on national accounts and recreational product development.

“We have been able to experience firsthand Matt’s operating style and values over the past few months, and also witness his deep knowledge of our product category and customers,” said Zebco President Jeff Pontius in announcing the appointment.

Fletcher has more than 16 years of experience with fishing and sporting goods, much of it with Shakespeare Fishing Tackle in Columbia, S.C., where he rose to the position of senior vice president of sales and marketing for the Shakespeare and Penn brands.
Zebco started at the Zero Hour Bomb Co. when R.D. Hull developed the Zebco spincast reel in 1949. In July, the company changed its name to Zebco Brands to reflect its portfolio of brands, including Zebco, Quantum, Fin-Nor, Van Staal, Rhino, Martin and Cajun Line, it reported. For 2009, the company said it has introduced more than 300 new items.
