Marine Woman of the Year Award presented in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — The Darlene Briggs Marine Woman of the Year Award was recently presented to Ann Baldree, the national and international sales manager of Chaparral Boats and Robalo Boats in Nashville, Tenn. The honor is given annually to an outstanding woman in the marine industry, according to a statement from the Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA). Baldree received her award at the 2008 Marine Dealer Conference & Expo in Las Vegas.

The award was named after Darlene Briggs of Wayzata Marine in Minnesota and is presented by Boating Industry magazine and MRAA. It recognizes long and devoted service, untiring commitment and the advancement of women in the marine business.

At the Las Vegas event, Liz Walz, senior editor of Boating Industry, introduced last year’s Darlene Briggs recipient, Marcia Kull from Volvo Penta, who presented Baldree with the award.

Baldree has been involved in the marine industry for three decades and has traveled the globe representing Chaparral and Robalo. She manages an internal sales department staff as well as nine regional sales managers.

The marine executive credited her strong work ethic to her upbringing and the people on her management team. Baldree also noted that Chaparral President Jim Lane and Founder Buck Pegg have inspired her growth and success.
