Great Lakes Boat Top celebrates 60 years
Great Lakes Boat Top is celebrating its 60th year in business in 2017. The company is one of the nation’s oldest and largest original equipment manufacturers of marine canvas covers and enclosures.
Great Lakes Boat Top was founded by William Parks in the Great Lakes region in a Detroit, Mich. garage. After 30 years of business with his father in the Detroit area, Ken Parks moved Great Lakes Boat Top to Tennessee to better serve boat manufacturer clients. Marine Accessories Corporation owns the company today. With facilities in Tennessee and Florida, Great Lakes Boat Top also makes replacement canvas available to retail customers.
“It is a privilege to be part of a company dedicated to exceeding customer expectations for more than six decades,” said Jim Wilson, president of Great Lakes Boat Top. “That kind of longevity speaks volumes for the quality of work of the people at Great Lakes Boat Top as well as the solid business relationships we’ve developed with customers throughout the years.”
Wilson said the company began its yearlong celebration with a special ceremony for employees recognizing them for their contributions to the achievement of this milestone. Son of the company founder Ken Parks made a special guest appearance. Each employee received an embroidered jacket and a catered lunch. Great Lakes Boat Top said other promotions and prizes are slated over the course of the year to reward customers for their loyalty and business. Specifics will be posted on Facebook and on the company’s website at www.greatlakesboattop.com.
“We look forward to the challenges and rewards the next 60 years will bring,” said Wilson.
Great Lakes Boat Top’s parent company is Marine Accessories Corporation. Other MAC brands include Westland Industries – an aftermarket source for mooring covers and universal-fit Bimini tops – Monster Tower, TurboSwing and Xtreme Tower Products.
