Iconic Marine Group, which launched earlier this year as the new parent company of Baja Marine, Donzi, Donzi Classic, Fountain Powerboats and Pro-Line, has sold off the Pro-Line brand to a group of its investors partners.
As part of the transaction, effective immediately, Iconic will now be sole operators of the Baja, Donzi, Donzi Classic, and Fountain brands, under the ownership of Fred Ross. The management of Iconic will remain unchanged.
Fountain, Donzi, Donzi Classic and Baja will continue to operate and be manufactured at the present location in Washington, N.C.
“When rebuilding a company that has multiple brands serving different market segments, it quickly
becomes apparent that you need to develop a culture and company attitude that can serve those
segments rationally and productively,” said Iconic Marine Group COO, Joe Curran. “Sole ownership by
Mr. Ross, along with improved management attention, will provide these brands the operational
structure to grow in the future. The newly organized operation will allow us to better focus on our
premium brands and intensify our efforts in dealer development, product development, process
improvement and marketing.”
Earlier this year, Curran told Boating Industry that the company planned to keep all it’s brands, although he noted that “The toughest thing to do with so many brands is to keep them all fresh.”
“Each brand has a great following,” he said at the time. “There will be financial considerations as we go forward. … Pro-Line has been a high-volume boat in the past, so I think Pro-Line can create some volume for this place and cover some overhead during good times, bad times. That’s a brand we want to build as a cornerstone of our financial model.”
